De Bruyne received the Man of the Match award for the Belgium vs Canada match. However, the Man City star admitted he did not understand why he received this award even though the performance was not so outstanding.

“I don't think I played a good game. I don't know why I got this title. Maybe it's because of my name. Must credit Canada.”
Speaking more about Belgium's performance, De Bruyne said: "It wasn't a good enough performance, but we knew what we needed to change. Accuracy is something that even I lack.
But we showed fighting spirit, that's the minimum requirement. The first match at a major tournament like this is always special. I didn't feel pressured but we made it difficult for ourselves and that worried the whole team."
Michy Batshuayi's only goal was enough to help Belgium win all 3 points against Canada. However, Belgium also had to go through a difficult 90 minutes and were somewhat fortunate when Canada missed an early penalty. Currently, Belgium is temporarily leading Group F with 3 points while Morocco and Croatia both have 1 point behind.
De Bruyne and his teammates will look forward to a brighter performance when they face Morocco in the second round of the group stage next Sunday.
